چکیده

Municipal solid waste incineration fly ash (FA) can represent a sustainable supply of supplementary material to the construction industries if it is pre-treated remove hazardous substances such as chloride, sulfate, and heavy metals. In this paper, phenomenology associated with water washing multi-cycle treatment FA investigated, focusing attention upon mineral dissolution process. The efficacy assessed by leaching tests, according European Standard, discussed in light occurring phases. water-to-solid (L/S) ratio crucial parameter, along number cycles, for removing halite sylvite, whereas quartz, calcite, anhydrite, an amorphous phase remain residue. sequential extraction method kinetics modelling provide further elements interpret processes, suggest that takes place through two-step mechanism. Altogether, multi-step L/S = 5 effective reducing contaminants under legal limits non-hazardous disposal, while non-reactive or reusable cannot be completely reached, owing sulfate some metals which still leached out from

Electrodialytic extraction of heavy metals from Greenlandic MSWI fly ash as a function of remediation time and L/S ratio

The management of Greenlandic municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash could be improved. Presently, the fly ash is disposed of in Norway as the fly ash is classified as hazardous waste. Fly ash contains high amounts of leachable heavy metals, but also resources that could be beneficial for reuse. In electrodialytic remediation a direct current is applied to a contaminated particulate ...

Kinetics of MSWI Fly Ash Thermal Degradation. 2. Mechanism of Native Carbon Gasification

A generalized kinetic model for fly ash native carbon oxidation is developed. It is shown that the conversion of fly ash native carbon to CO2 is the result of two simultaneous processes taking place on fly ash surface: the first process (rate constant k2) is the direct oxygen transfer from a metal oxide site to a vacant carbon active site leading to immediate carbon gasification; the second one...

Kinetics of MSWI Fly Ash Thermal Degradation. 1. Empirical Rate Equation for Native Carbon Gasification

The thermal degradation rate of organic carbon on fly ashes from different municipal solid waste incinerators, MSWIs, is studied in batch experiments in air. A global parameter, total organic carbon (TOC), is used to measure the decrease of reagent concentration in time. The TOC vs time data are well fitted by deconvolution treatment with a sum of two first-order reactions, Ri and Rj. To identi...
